What does it do?? It keeps your product at a stable relative humidity, not too wet and not too dry. Our MoisturePak® has been designed to maintain a 62% relative humidity ±3% (RH) inside a sealed container such as a jar or bag.
How does it do that? The MoisturePak™ is a two-way sorbent that uses a combination of plant fibers, water and salts to control the humidity by taking up or adsorbing the water vapor inside the container. If it is above the target RH% range, it can also generate water vapor to increase the humidity in the event that the RH level inside is less than ~62%.
Why would I need it? If your product needs a stable RH level to maintain freshness and to prevent product degradation, such as flower, hops or anything similar this is the right product for you.
What are some common applications?
- Musical instruments made from wood
- Humidors
- Plant based products that need to be kept from being too dry
What if I want to be completely dry the container? To obtain the lowest possible RH inside a container you will need a desiccant. We’re a company founded on sorbents and have many, many desiccant types and configurations available. Please follow this link to learn more: https://www.impakcorporation.com/desiccants

For Herbal Medicine
IMPAK’s MoisturePak® is specifically made for herbal medicine to help maintain humidity at 62%, as well as rehydrate buds. Our MoisturePak® is a two-way sorbent that uses a combination of plant fibers, water, and salts to control the humidity by taking up or adsorbing the water vapor inside the container. If it is above the target RH% range, it can also generate water vapor to increase the humidity in the event that the RH level inside is less than 62%. You simply place the little pouches inside with your herbal medicine after they’ve finished drying.
Do you need to a MoisturePak®?
Yes, they can be helpful if you will be curing your herbal medicine in an environment with incorrect humidity levels, especially if the air is really dry where you live. They can also be helpful if you’re not used to curing and are afraid of messing it up.
IMPAK’s MoisturePak® also works very well for long-term storage. Although they don’t lower the humidity when it’s too high in our curing jars, they do protect buds from drying out.
Will the MoisturePak® packs reduce the smell of your herbal medicine?
Most growers seem to agree that these packs won’t reduce the herbal medicine smell if they are added to the jars after the humidity has already been stabilized around 62% humidity for a few days.
Keep opening all jars at least once per day for first 1-2 weeks of curing
For the first 1-2 weeks, whether or not you’re using our MoisturePak®, you should continue checking your herbal medicine regularly and opening all the jars once a day.
Once you are sure the herbal medicine has been steadily in the cure zone for a few weeks, you may start opening the jars just once a week.
Re-Hydrating Over-dried Herbal Medicine
If you feel like you’ve over-dried your herbal medicine, don’t panic! Sometimes it feels like the herbal medicine is too dry even when there is still moisture inside. It’s a good idea to leave buds in jars for at least 2-3 days to see if moisture starts coming to the surface from inside. If they still feel bone dry after a few days of being jarred, that’s when you might consider rehydrating them.
If you’ve only got household items, trying to rehydrate your buds afterward is risky and probably not a good idea. Rehydration increases the risk of mold, especially if using something organic, like an orange peel, so use something that’s meant to do the rehydrating.
MoisturePak® for Rehydrating Herbal Medicine
If you’ve been monitoring your herbal medicine closely from the beginning, it is unlikely that they will become too dry. However, if you have over-dried your buds, one safe option to at least reduce the brittleness (freshen them up) is to add our MoisturePak® to your jars, which will bring the humidity back up to RH 62% (they don’t work well for reducing humidity - they can only raise the humidity and keep it at the 62% level). These will help slowly infuse moisture back into your buds and won’t affect the taste or increase the chances of mold.
Once the herbal medicine has been re-hydrated, you can remove the MoisturePak® if desired. Some growers have reported that leaving the MoisturePak® in jars during the first 4 weeks of curing can reduce the taste/smell of buds, though in our tests we didn’t notice any difference in smell or flavor.
