The primary capability that IMPAK Corporation brings, is the ability to use a number of high-temperature films to produce pouches for custom applications in volumes that range from 3,000 – 5,000 up to 250,000 or 400,000 pieces.
High temperature Laminates are materials that can withstand rigorous heat processing of pouch contents and the structure itself through retorting, or autoclaving.
All of the ‘stock’ pouches, (and by stock, we mean that we have a large anchor account we produce a specific size pouch for), we can run lesser volumes of these parts simultaneously with. With large quantities already in production and the materials available, we can run a smaller number for other customers at the same time.
For instance, though our 4.5” x 10” white PAKVF4C pouch is not listed on our website, we produce that pouch in high volume for a large customer and can increase our run by a smaller quantity to support a smaller order within a reasonable timeframe. We also produce a clear high oxygen and moisture barrier laminate that can withstand very high temperatures.
It is IMPORTANT that you let us know your application, as we have over 30 laminate materials on the floor we can convert and produce pouches with. It is a matter of understanding your application, use, volume, and lead time requirements to provide the best solution to meet customer product and packaging requirements.
Retorting refers specifically to a type of food processing. It typically means that hermetically sealed pouch contents are placed in a closed vessel or other equipment used for thermal processing and are steam heated up to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Ready-to-use retort pouches are flexible packages made from multilayer plastic and foil films. Unlike other typical flexible packages commonly encountered, they are made of heat-resistant plastics, thus making them suitable for processing in the retort at a temperature of around 121 °C. These retort pouches possess toughness and puncture resistance not normally required by other flexible packaging. Such materials can also withstand rigorous handling and distribution. The material is heat-sealable and possesses excellent gas barrier properties.
All of our high-temperature, autoclavable materials can be used in a retort food processing system.
Many of IMPAK’s customers are not using a retort system but if you are, or are doing it in small volume, we have pouches available as we have large customers that utilize high volumes of these retort pouches for campers, backpackers and shelf-stable meals and snacks.

Below you will see examples of gold pouches that are autoclavable, retort-grade, (high-temperature) materials, a 14” x 18” zipper bag where products can be sterilized, and a stand up pouch with no zipper in which products can be cooked or boiled right in the sealed pouch (for our customers interested in pursuing the culinary arts), or sterilized within the sealed pouch, if your application is for an industrial or biomedical component. There is also a transparent high-temperature pouch (which has high moisture permeability properties) which can withstand temperatures up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
These high-temperature films that need to withstand temperatures up to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, and can be converted into custom sized pouches, or run simultaneously with other large orders.
