Introducing Teknapore™

Not only equivalent to Tyvek® - it's better.

Tyvek® (made by DuPont™) is known for being lightweight and tear-resistant, but more importantly for being permeable by vapor and impermeable by liquids. These characteristics have made Tyvek® the structure of choice for sterile medical device packaging, protective clothing, construction materials, tear-resistant mailers, and more.

Now there is an alternative.

IMPAK's Teknapore™ offers the same lightweight durability, air permeability, and water resistance capabilities as Tyvek®, but with a company that offers outstanding customer service, flexible print order quantities, and low MOQs for medical and sterilizable pouches. We offer structures that are equivalent to Tyvek® 1073B and 2058C, used primarily for sterile medical instrument packaging and active food packaging, respectively.

Teknapore™ characteristics:

  • Vapor Permeable: Teknapore™ is breathable, allowing air and moisture vapor to pass through, which is useful for many applications.
  • Liquid Impermeable: It is exceptionally water-resistant, and can be used to keep materials, cargo, or personnel protected from rain or other liquids.
  • Microbial Barrier: Teknapore™ effectively keeps out microbial threats, while its breathablity makes it suitable for most forms of sterilization.
  • Temperature Tolerance: Teknapore™ can withstand temperatures of -94°F (-70°C) to 176°F (80°C).
  • Tear-resistant: Because of its high tensile strength, Teknapore™ is extremely resistant to tearing and puncturing.
  • Lightweight: Teknapore™ is lightweight, saving cost and effort in transportation and implementation.
  • Printable: The paper-like surface of Teknapore™ works well for most kinds of printing techniques.

Teknapore™ applications:

  • Medical Devices: Teknapore™ is perfect for medical packaging, as it allows for many sterilization methods and prevents microbial contamination.
  • Active Packaging: The breathability and durability of Teknapore™ makes it an ideal material to package sorbents that remove oxygen or moisture from the air.
  • Protective clothing: Teknapore™ can be used for disposable coveralls, lab coats, and other protective apparel, providing a barrier against hazardous materials and substances.
  • Construction: It can be used as a breathable yet water-resistant wrap for building materials, protecting them from the elements while allowing moisture vapor to escape.
  • Cargo Protection: Teknapore™ can be used to protect cargo from moisture and even to create insulated protective covers.
  • Envelopes and mailers: Teknapore™ is used for durable and tear-resistant envelopes to protect documents during shipping.
  • Tags and labels: Due to its tear-resistant nature, Teknapore™ can be used for tags, labels, and wristbands that require durability.
