FOB Shipping Explained
We have made this discrete page because on occasion we have customers - and customers are valuable to IMPAK! - who do not understand the legal nature of freight terms and conditions.
All shipments we send out are under "FOB origin" terms. FOB (or Free on Board) means that as soon as a shipment is signed for by the carrier, the buyer assumes ownership of the product and responsibility for anything that happens to it during transport. The point at which this happens at IMPAK is when a shipment is picked up at our warehouse, which is the "origin" of the shipment.
Our warehouse staff is very careful to make sure that outgoing shipments are in the best possible condition before being picked up for transport. In the unfortunate event of damage happening to shipments while in transport, the buyer is responsible for filing a claim with the carrier to resolve the situation.
