Product Testing Services

As "recognized technical experts in our field," we at IMPAK Corporation pride ourselves on our ability to provide customers with detailed data regarding the performance of our flexible barrier materials and finished products. In addition to easily-accessible specifications on our commonly-produced materials, desiccants, and sealers, IMPAK will also help customers navigate the technical development of new products through Engineering Service Requests. But IMPAK's technical services don't stop there.
Pouch Testing
Sometimes a customer already has pouches from other manufacturers, but they lack the in-depth data regarding the properties of the pouches' materials, how well the pouch stands up to a variety of stressors, or other information that requires quality assurance testing. Also, given that flexible packaging films, like all packaging materials, will degrade over a long period of time, some customers may want to test the structural viability of their pouches. IMPAK can help with recertification services.
Pouch Testing Services include:
- Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) - ASTM 0-3985
- Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR) - ASTM F-1249
- Seal Strength - ASTM F88
- Leak Testing - ASTM D3078
- Microbial Testing - ISO 4832, ISO 4833-1, ISO 21527-1
- Sterility Testing - USP-NF <71>

Contaminant Testing can include:
- Escherichia coli (O157: H7) (AKA - Coliforms)
- Staphylococcus Aureus
- Listeria Monocytogenes
- Vibrio parahaemolyticus
- Salmonella
- Mold & Yeast
- Anaerobic Plate Count (APC - total number of bacterial colonies)

Moisture Control Testing
IMPAK is also capable of testing the relative humidity (RH) inside of a customer's package environment to determine whether the desiccant being used is effectively maintaining the desired RH over time. This can be done in a static environment or we can recreate the conditions of interstate shipping, to determine the effects of temperature variance. And of course our knowledgeable staff can make recommendations about the type and quantity of desiccant or the type of barrier packaging needed to achieve the customer's desired result. Learn more.

Oxygen Testing
Is your product oxygen-sensitive? Finding the right combination of package volume, material barrier, and size/type of oxygen absorber packet can be quite tricky, especially given the wide variances in density for different types of products. IMPAK's team can not only test for oxygen levels in a sealed package - at any point after the pouch is sealed - but we can also recommend the size of pouch and O2 absorber packet, as well as the types of high oxygen barrier materials, to create the appropriate in-package environment for your application. Sealer Validation / Calibration
As a globally recognized manufacturer of heat sealing and vacuum sealing equipment, we recognize that seal process validation is an important component of the services we render to our sealer customers. In many industries, including medicine, aerospace, and chemical and electronics production, a guarantee of precise and repeatable sealer performance is vital. We can validate equipment already owned (whether from us or another manufaturer), we can modify equipment to be validatable, and we can perform accurate calibration services. Learn more.
