IMPAK is a flexible packaging solution provider for large containers. We offer different styles of pouches (3-side seal Mylar® bags, box liners, drum liners, etc.) to line your cans, boxes, and drums. If your business uses drums or buckets to store and/or transport product, you know the value that high-quality drum liners, or round-bottom bags, bring. They not only keep your product sealed tight and protected from contaminants, but they also reduce the maintenance cost to clean/repurpose your drums.

Drum liner problems? IMPAK has solutions.

drum linersIt is frustrating when standard drum liners don’t fit your containers, are not suitable for your application, or are difficult to obtain due to supply chain issues. IMPAK has you covered. The Mylar®-foil inserts from IMPAK, for instance, are specifically made to protect contents from the degrading effects of water, moisture vapor, light, and oxygen. IMPAK also provides protective drum liners converted from different materials that can withstand high temperatures and aggressive chemicals.

Whatever your application, IMPAK can provide a protective liner that will make your life easier. If you don’t see what you need, send us your container and we’ll work with you to find or create a product that will satisfy even the strictest requirements. Here are some examples of how IMPAK’s Engineered Service Request System has found the right fit for clients with unique drum liner needs:

Example 1

auger powder filling machine

Need: This is the case of a customer, a major chemical company with a sophisticated, high-value, dry and extremely moisture-sensitive product that is produced in a batch process several times a year. The customer uses a large auger powder filling machine to place this product into drums with high-barrier PAKVF4CWSL drum liners (which can be effectively sealed even with fine powders present), which are then sealed.

The customer was having issues with their previous liner because the liner opening was getting in the way of the filling chute, slowing them down and wasting valuable product. They required a liner that would work seamlessly with their equipment, eliminating product waste and keeping their workflow smooth and steady.

Solution: After proposing a variety of solutions, and some trial and correction, IMPAK’s team designed a liner with a custom flared opening that could be easily folded to make a clean seal. This allowed the client to keep the opening of the liner out of the way for clean, easy filling of their drums, and to keep their product moving out the door quickly.

Example 2

Need: For years we worked with this client, a leader in industrial adhesives, by supplying their 55-gallon drum liners. When supply chain delays caused them difficulty in acquiring one of their smaller units, they asked if IMPAK could help out and sent us a sample. We didn’t have that exact size available for production, so we sent them a similarly-sized liner that was available and could be shipped immediately. Because we had not told them that this item was not identical to their sample, the customer was disappointed to find that this item did not fit their containers.

This story is an example of miscommunication between a supplier and its valued customer. This is who we are at IMPAK: We admit when we make a mistake and we go into high gear to solve the problem for the customer as fast as we can.

Solution: Fortunately, IMPAK has the tooling to produce such a wide range of drum liners that we were able to introduce them to other available items that would definitely fit their needs. The customer decided to use IMPAK’s RBW1825H2525D11 18.25”W x 25.25”H x 11”D heavy-duty Mylar®-foil liners in order to take advantage of the production cost breaks for that item, a staple for one of our anchor customers (a high-volume consumer of a specific product). Because IMPAK keeps this anchor customer’s “custom pouch” in inventory, we are able to offer this product at a lower manufacturing cost due to higher volumes.

corrosive warning

Need: This innovative chemical manufacturer was in need of a high-barrier drum liner to prevent oxygen and moisture from causing harmful reactions with hazardous contents, even under extreme heat conditions. The polyethylene liners they had been using were not cost-effective, so they came to IMPAK to find a lower-cost alternative that would still satisfy their stringent materials requirements.

high heat warning

Solution: We at IMPAK knew that our drum liners made from PAKSAFE320 Mylar®-foil would provide the necessary ultra-low oxygen transmission rate (OTR) and water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) needed to reliably prevent contamination, and that it could withstand temperatures up to 320°F. In order to satisfy this client’s high standards, we performed a series of tests to confirm that our drum liners would perform beyond requirements, and for a fraction of the price of the liner the client had been using.
