R&D - Custom Controller Design for Industrial Sealing Equipment

Building off of their extensive experience with the Gramatech Workhorse series of heat sealers, IMPAK's engineering team is always working with our partners to find improvements or updates to our machines.

On a standard Gramatech GXPS unit, the control panel is located below the seal bar, built into the main housing of the machine. This has worked well for the vast majority of customers who only need to access the controls to set up production.

In this case, a customer asked to reposition the control panel to better access to machine controls during production. Their process necessitated accessing the control panel while positioning very large pouches for sealing. With the machine's standard design, when one of these pouches was aligned with the seal bars, it blocked access to the controller. IMPAK's team reconfigured the placement of the controller and built a custom enclosure mounted on one side of the unit to keep it easy-to-access during use.

Modifications like these allow us to try out new ideas and find great solutions to future design decisions.
